NEW ORLEANS JAZZ FEST What is Jazz Fest? The New Orleans' Jazz & Heritage, popularly known as Jazz Fest, is an 11 day cultural feast in which thousands of musicians, cooks and craftspeople welcome 500,000 visitors each year. There are two main components: the Louisiana Heritage Fair, held at the Fair Grounds Race Course over the Course of 2 weekends, Friday, April 22-Sunday, April 24 and Friday, April 29-Sunday May 1, 2005. The Evening Concert Series, held at different locations throughout the 11 day Festivals features music that is indigenous to New Orleans and to the State of Louisiana, including R & B, gospel, Cajun, zydeco, Afro-Caribbean, folk, Latin, rock, rap, country, bluegrass, and jazz, both contemporary and traditional. The Louisiana Heritage Fair is the signature feature of the Festival, showcasing unforgettable music on 12 stages, delicious Louisiana cuisine in two large food areas, and crafts artisans, both regional and international, demonstrating and selling their work. |
